My name is Seth Scofield, I am a cinematographer and filmmaker from Washington D.C., I spent the majority of my adolescent years living in Europe, where the arts and culture played a significantly influential role in my personal development, character and integrity.

I became interested in photography at an early age, as I enjoyed shooting our family vacations around Europe, with my first 35mm film camera. It was during these adolescent years that I became very interested in film, and could usually be found in the theatre or at the video rental stores weekly. During my adolescent years I also studied acting in Heidelberg Germany, and later during college. These life experiences motivated my decision to pursue a profession in the arts & entertainment industry.

While attending college I had my first real motion picture experience working on the set of DreamWorks Picture’s Forces Of Nature (1999). This was an eye opening opportunity; I would later go on to work on other sets and productions throughout my college years.

These experiences drove my passion for film and my decision to pick up a camera and start shooting narrative films as a cinematographer. I think there is something beautiful about lighting, whether it is shot with the moving camera or a stationary camera, solid lighting can enhance the story within the frame. Being a cinematographer allows me to do what I love, which is painting with light.
